Self-Protection Counters Murder Rate

Noting the rates of concealed carry holders per 100,000 population as compared to the murder rate per 100,000 from 1998 to 2014 research discovered that murder rates have dropped while concealed carry holders have increased. The percent of adult population per 100,000 having CC permits in 1998 was about 1.3, while the murder rate was about 5.75 per 100,000 population. The rate of CC permits per 100,000 in 2014 has risen to about 5.25 for the same population, while the murder rate has dropped to near 4.25 for the same population. These numbers reflect a 25% drop in murder rate, while there was a over a 150% increase in concealed carry permit holders. As a side note the overall violent crime rate decreased by 25% during the same period. Quite a change!
